How Stress Cause Gray Hair

Majority of us live very complicated lives that involves balancing work, family, and social interactions. The stress that come from everyday living has the ability to change our hair to the daunting color of gray. There are people who associate the color of gray, protruding from our head with wisdom, but scientist at the University of Harvard have discovered exactly how the process plays out. Stress activates nerves that are part of the fight-or-flight response, which in turn cause permanent damage to pigment-regenerating stem cells in hair follicles.

Its is known amongst the healthcare industry that stress affects the whole body. In order for the Harvard Scientist to come to their conclusion on what cause gray hair from stress they had to start observing the body as whole, narrowing it down to individual organ systems, next to cell to cell interactions, and finally down to molecular dynamics. Each phase of the study involved multiple scientific experts from different disciplines to understand how the body worked from the highest level of detail to the lowest level of detail.
